When we first met it was magical

I just couldn’t wait to be your friend

We’d spend our days in the summer hays

Hanging ‘round Horseshoe Bend

All the girls just hung their heads, they knew who held the rains

I just knew that I was truly blessed

Oh, how I remember those days

We would ride a thousand miles

If it meant that we’d both be free

But the hands of time just weren’t as kind

To a horse as wild as me

I was bread to ride them barrels

My Daddy was a rodeo champ

But I just couldn’t stand goin’ ‘round in circles

So one day I broke camp

Then I caught you, or you caught me

It was life as it always should be

And them years they past so good, so fast

I hope you’ll remember these

One careless flick of a cigarette

Burned down half our land

In trying to escape I came down hard upon the gate

I broke my leg and I hope you understand

I know you’d ride a thousand miles

But there wasn’t anything that you could do

It’s just come my time but I truly hope you’ll find

Another horse as wild as you

Next stop...
